There are hundreds of thousands of people living with some type of disability in Hungary, more than a million navigate while pushing prams, and even more have mobility issues due to their age or other factors. It’s time we make shopping easier for them as well – this is why Ringier Hungary, the local publisher of GLAMOUR magazine, decided to partner up with Access4you for the sake of easier and barrier-free accessibility of the shops and products participating in GLAMOUR Shopping Days and to strengthen the inclusive approach.
More than 4,000 shops, around 300 brands, and traffic equivalent to holiday shopping —this is the average turnout for a GLAMOUR Shopping days event at national level. People with reduced mobility, the hard of hearing, people pushing prams, or with temporary disabilities are just as keen to participate in discounted shopping as able-bodied individuals. Their interests are the main focus of a recent partnership between the organisers of GLAMOUR Shopping Days and the social impact company Access4you.
Access4you is a social impact company with an international partner network that audits and certifies the level of accessibility in various real estate segments, including office buildings, malls, stores, and other segments. Based on these accessibility audits, Access4you offers certified accessibility information for people with disabilities and their families or helpers about accessibility features of a given location. What is more, Access4you also helps real estate owners, developers, and businesses learn more about their level of inclusion and the accessibility needs of disabled customers. Through a recent partnership with the organisers of GLAMOUR Shopping Days, Access4you will help shoppers discover shops and stores that already offer certified accessibility information through joint communication, educational material, and a store locator application. As for retailers and real estate operators who would like to do even more for accessibility and disability inclusion, Access4you offers professional consultation as well.
„We reach the masses with GLAMOUR Shopping Days, both on the consumer and retailer side. This gives us not only the opportunity but also the responsibility to take the initiative and make a difference on important social and environmental issues. As we have already done much to promote more environmentally friendly coupon shopping through the introduction of digital coupons and mobile apps, using paper from sustainable sources, we want to do much to spread an inclusive approach. Therefore, we encourage our retail partners to address this issue, to pay attention to the needs of people with reduced mobility or other physical disabilities, and we, with the professional help of Access4you, will support them with tools and information.” – says Gergely Tóth-Császár, Head of Business Unit at Ringier Hungary, about the cooperation.
„Accessible shopping benefits everyone: better experience and products for people with disabilities – new customers for stores and measurable growth in demand for shopping malls. I am extremely happy to launch this social impact campaign during the GLAMOUR Shopping Days together with Ringier Hungary” – added Balázs Berecz, Founder and CEO of Access4you, who is a wheelchair user himself.
